Trade Mark & Licence

Ownership and use of the Companion Card Trade Mark

The State of Victoria, care of the Department of Human Services, is the owner of Trade Mark No. 961571, which commenced 15th July 2003. It includes, but is not limited to; the word Companion Card, the Companion Card logo, and the 'CC' Logo. No party may use these trade marks without obtaining permission from the State of Victoria.

An Intellectual Property Licence Deed of Agreement has been developed to permit the use of the Companion Card name & logos, by another state or territory government. This licence is conditional on the use of common eligibility, visual identity, security features, program conditions and reciprocal recognition of the card across state boundaries.

The Victorian Companion Card program may also be able to provide significant intellectual materials to assist the establishment of a licenced Companion Card program in another state or territory.

If you would like information about how to obtain a licence from the State of Victoria to use the Companion Card branding and intellectual property, please contact the Companion Card Information Line on 1800 650 611.
